Awesome game, but...

I don't know how these bugs didn't turn up in testing. You should consider recruiting a few dozen friends to run through the game. Get half to try and break it, and have the other half just play it. You'd be surprised what they may come up with.

Great game though, I love games like this. I hope you can get the bugs fixed so I can actually play past level 14.

Wonderful

I love the concept., an obvious spoof of Flash games in general. It only took a few screens for me to give up though, I'm not a huge fan of playing games where anything can kill you, but only sometimes.

One flaw

This game really is well done, but there's only one thing I don't like about it: How long it takes for Hippolyta to "recover" from doing something. When you encounter a hoplite, farmer, branch, duelist, rock, tent sort of combo it's not hard to know what to press, but to start early enough that she'll finish each action RIGHT after you pass each obstacle to be ready for the next.
Maybe I'm just complaining because my reaction time isn't the greatest and I prefer strategy/puzzle games, but it seems like a pretty big flaw.

I'm also not quite sure why a game as simple as this was built with a game engine, but maybe there's something really complicated going on that I just can't see, who knows.

every decent game needs some kind of game engine, for inputs, the gameloop, helper functions, tile handling, sounds, etc....and it's my game engine so...

Some issues

I) It's really hard to tell where you're supposed to be going, then again I suppose this is the idea behind a maze game
II) The movement has some glitches. Ie. Sometimes pressing a button will 'launch' you in a direction rather than the normal slight acceleration. There's something amiss in that code

Overall a decent first Flash project, I hope it makes it through the gauntlet. ;)

First- Awesome game, I was addicted until my computer froze. XD

Second- "This game can lag like a motherfucker on older machines. Either download it, or change the graphics settings in the Pause menu."

Very nice

Incredibly unique. I've never seen something like this before.
The one thing that I didn't like was your camera system. On level 1 for example, you jump, and you can't see where you're going to land. Didn't make the level impossible, but it bothered me.
Level 2 killed me every time though. I guess this just isn't my game. lol

More often then not, games require script. And judging by how your "demo" worked, you used almost none, just some simple timeline navigation.
You need to learn a little more about Flash and Actionscript before you submit something and expect it to get anywhere on Newgrounds....

It was well done, but it could have just as easily been put into an HTML page.
And I've seen that kind of tutorial in countless places on the net, so you're just adding another one to the pile.
Felt like there should have been more to the tutorial, maybe explain hitTest, and the generation of the "enemy dots".

I could have explained those as well but I wasn't going to go all out on my first tutorial and then if it sucked I would have wasted a lot of time that I could have been doing something else. It was just something short, sweet and to the point.
